FCC has said yes to increase the amount which cell phone providers would have to pay into the Universal Service Fund (USF) and it also requires VoIP providers to contribute for the first time. If we interpret this, the end users would have to pay higher monthly bills as generally the service providers tend to pass on the added costs to the end users.
Everybody must be aware that USF is used for subsidizing phone service in rural and low income areas and the added funds would be used for keeping it afloat as starting August this year DSL providers would not be required to contribute to the fund.
What all I can say, just start earning a few more bucks to pay for your increased bill
