AT&T closing doors for its VoIP customers

VoIP customers of AT&T were in deep shock when they received a letter from the company which stated in big rude red letters that their VoIP service would be suspended in next thirty days and permanently disconnected in two months and the company quoted E911 service as the reason for discontinuation of service. One cannot believe that a company such as AT&T has been unable to overcome the technical hurdles associated with E911 as SBC/AT&T is the local landline company in areas where VoIP cancellation notices were served.

A number of customers stated that they were helpless in transferring their phone numbers to a new provider. The company is also not setting up a forwarding message directing callers to a new phone number for those customers who have not been able to transfer their numbers to a new provider. Probably this is quite rude of a reputed company like AT&T to adopt such practices with its customers.
