I recently published an article at VoIP Planet looking at BroadSoft's planned acquisition of Packet Island, a provider of SaaS-based QoS monitoring tools for VoIP and video networks and services.
"BroadSoft is committed to helping our global customer base rapidly deploy IP communications services," says BroadSoft president and CEO Michael Tessler. "Packet Island offers a complementary technology that further enables the migration of voice and video to IP by ensuring the highest QoE. This merger will broaden BroadSoft's range of cloud-based communications offerings, provide revenue growth opportunities, and create long-term value for our service provider customers."
The combination of this kind of QoS and QoE monitoring with a leading voice solution is a promising development for the industry as a whole. "The easier we can make it for BroadSoft’s customers to ramp up their installed base, reduce churn, reduce support costs, and therefore increase their acceleration in the market, it’s really good for everyone… BroadSoft is a leader in this space, and I’m really looking forward to Packet Island adding to the success that BroadSoft has already built," says Packet Island founder and CEO Praveen Kumar.
