eComm2008 was the subject of this past Friday's Squawk Box call/podcast, which is recorded using iotum's Free Conference Call application on Facebook. Conference organizer Lee Dryburgh was the special guest and he explained a lot of the rationale for the conference.
Lee picked up the conference shelved by O'Reilly and Associates called ETel, which was very popular among the attendees. It served a very important niche in the conference space. It's not about products, per-se, it's about ideas that will move communications of all types forward. It's not just VoIP, or even telephony. It's about how we all can and will communicate and connect-now and in the future.
There will be a ton of speakers at this conference, but the talks will be short-no more than 15 or 30 minutes. Dryburgh states that the people that attend these conferences are likely like him and have a short attention span.
I wish I could go to this conference, but it's not looking like I can make it for personal and business reasons. Maybe next year.
