FCC buries in flight cell phone use issue for a while
The in flight mobile phone usage issue has been placed in the cold box as of now. The issue was grounded on the grounds that still there was no substantial technical information as to whether using mobile phones during flights could affect the communication and navigation system of the aircraft. Die hard cell phones fans would surely not appreciate this and would have to continue keeping their devices switched off while on board.

It looks it will take a lot of time for FCC to figure out whether mobile calls aboard planes could affect the networks on the ground or not. The issue has been hanging in the air since 2004 and will now continue to do so. An in flight Wi-Fi deal is still imminent with Aircell which would be including VoIP but voice services would be locked at first. I am not against the idea of allowing mobile phone conversation on board but this is the only place I get to catch some sleep.
