You only thought that companies like Skype and Jajah doled out freebies but now British internet telephony provider Babble.net has rolled out free voip IDD landline calls to 25 countries. The FreeB VoIP offer enables users to make free calls to countries such as U.K., U.S., Australia, China, and Singapore for thirty minutes and after that the user is charged Babble's low rates. This offer is valid only for three months and in order to activate this service one needs to send a £1.50 SMS to Babble.net and download the client on their computer.
Babble.net is different from other VoIP services as it uses open standard SIP as compared to others which use proprietary standard. Open standard SIP implies that theoretically any SIP terminal could connect to the Babble network and they are supporting some SIP based IP telephones from vendors like Grandstream.
