Intel Goes VoIP Way with Its Motherboard
Why the largest chipmaker Intel should be left behind in the VoIP race. It has gone ahead and is offering a VoIP add in board as a part of its strategy to sell motherboards. As a part of its channel push, Intel is also bundling Nvidia products with two of its motherboards - Hell's Canyon and White Salmon.

The Slick Mountain card which is also known as the 600SM comes with an Intel installer with drivers and ISP dialers. It would be working with standard phones and support Counterpath and Skype. Intel is already in the process of striking deals with Delta Three, Skype, Vonage and other firms. The Hells Canyon Motherboard is being bundled with the Nvidia 6200LE Turbo Cache 16MB card whereas the White Salmon comes with the same options.

Its venture capital arm, Intel Capital has also entered into a partnership with ISP Pipex to provide broadband services in major metropolitan areas.

Hmmm, seems Intel wants to play a major role in the field of communication in the coming years.
