There seems to be mystery surrounding Nintendo Wii controller when the company hinted that there are many Wii functions waiting to be unveiled. One of the rumors doing the rounds is that this controller could double up as a VoIP phone. Now you must be thinking how this could be possible. The grapevine hints that one of the functions to be added to the controller is built in microphone and we are already aware that the Wiimote has a speaker, so there are possibilities that we might also get the facility to make calls. Sounds great!!! If they also add a voice activated phonebook it would be the perfect icing on the cake.

It would enable the gamers to talk while being online without requiring a headset. It is also being suggested that the phone could be used for making video calls but I am not sure as to how can a camera would be used for this purpose. The most interesting gossip is regarding the address book details which could be stored on the controller.

So it seems that there is a lot in store for not only the gamers but also non gamers. If true, it would be a great marketing ploy by Nintendo in attracting non gamers to get addicted to their games in the guise of VoIP.
