I recently published an article at Enterprise VoIP Planet reporting on magicJack's plans to release a femtocell-enabled version of its VoIP device, presumably to be called the femtoJack.
The concept is simple: add the ability to communicate over cellular frequencies to the magicJack USB dongle, and it can connect to your cell phone the same way it currently connects to your home phone. Of course, that raises regulatory issues in the U.S., and will likely lead to the company having to work with carriers here - though a carrier agreement could lead to all kinds of additional benefits as well, including seamless handover between the magicJack and the mobile network.
The company says it'll launch the device within the next six months or so - it'll be very interesting to see what form (and what price point) it ends up taking...

If MagicJack can get away with it and maintain a low pricing then its going to be a whole new war out there with the providers.
