The folks at VoIP Guides have uncovered a "secret"-and I use that term loosely-that allows you to use Jaxtr to essentially make free calls over VoIP "forever"-or until Jaxtr goes under or changes their offering.
I've called Jaxtr's business model into question before. Given that this appears to be Jaxtr's only trick, and they are appealing to the "if it's free, it's me" crowd, and what pay services they do offer likely makes them a fraction of a cent a minute at best, I wonder how long before we see them in the deadpool?

I think those voip guys may be smoking something. I tried the hack and now it looks like my number banned. I can't register it again like the described and I can't make calls either. I wouldn't recommend the hack. At least I can still use different phone to call home cheap. Personally, I hope Jaxtr makes it with their ad revenue and what ever else they got. So far it's been cheap (free!) and the quality is pretty good.

it worked fine until the voip guides post came out. it was shut down about 48 hrs after. the odd thing is that it has been shut down before and than started working again. it is almost as if they have a toggle switch to turn it on and off. personally i take a guess that they like the subscriber number that it generate and the related publicity. it is very hard to imagine that there controls are so weak that they did not know what was going on.

I personally don't recommend gaming these guys--not specifically Jaxtr, but any of them. It was more to illustrate what I perceive as a lack of a business model. What is Jaxtr going to sell exactly?
