While everyone (I would assume) agrees that Vonage is the industry leader, will the Vonage IPO affect the entire industry?
What I see is a public that is just now starting to embrace VoIP. And, much like Web 2.0 internet companies, Vonage is staking out new ground so their IPO will give those of us in the VoIP sector some unique benefits:
1. Increased VoIP visibility
2. Bird's Eye view of market reaction to the IPO (priceless)
3. Good estimation of consumer interest
Watching their valuation, which seems on the money to me, their strategy to get to IPO, which was forewarned by Andy, Om, and on Silicon.com in June, and their route to e-911 compliance has been interesting to say the least.
