MyToGo Skype-Enables Your Mobile Phone

MyToGoV32.JPG

This Skype extra called MyToGo makes it possible for you to dial into your SkypeIn number and call out using Skype. You can call anyone on your contacts, including Skype names. Skype contacts are free. PSTN numbers use SkypeOut minutes.

Here's why I don't like it:

  • It only runs on Windows. That right there is a showstopper.
  • It requires Skype (and this "Extra") to be running on your PC.
  • It requires a heck of a lot of manual setup to make this work.

On the plus side, it will work with any phone. If you're looking to make cheaper calls from your mobile, there are better ways than this. Maybe you feel differently, though, so leave your thoughts in the comments.

Seems like a lot of trouble. http://www.EQO.com works much better.

Not sure what you mean by “heck of alot of Steps”? You can use Skype Speed Dial numbers if you like, which allows you to contact “Skype Names” which could NOT be done normally, and for Free, I might add. Other Than That, there are not really any Steps besides deciding who your authorized users are and what Skype Speed Dial numbers if any, you wish to use.

There are other solutions out there that make the entire buddy list available to your phone without having to set up speed dials, nor leaving software running on your computer.

None of which will be available for FREE after the beta periods expire. ;-)

Which is, of course, an excellent point. Then again, one wonders how
many of these companies will actually be around.
