Samsung Unveils World's First UMA Phone in Italy

Samsung has unveiled the world's first UMA mobile phone to the Italian market. It makes use of a technology which is a fixed mobile convergence standard that allows handsets to seamlessly switch from using a cell network to VoIP over Wi-Fi without any user intervention.

Called the SGH-P200 UMA phone, it is the world's first commercial phone which makes use of this technology. It allows free switching between cellular networks and offers seamless connectivity and has a greater mobility as compared to existing Wi-Fi phones which have a limited mobility.
