The battle over Skype has been resolved.
"The founders of Skype, Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, will drop their lawsuits against [eBay] and a consortium of buyers whose bid to purchase 65 percent of Skype was announced last month, according to an announcement released by eBay before the opening of the stock markets Friday," writes the NYT's Brad Stone. "As part of the complex agreement, the founders will own a 14 percent stake in the new Skype and receive two seats on the board."
"Now, Skype execs can quit worrying about how they’re going to appear on eBay’s financial statements and can get back to work on making the service better, landing new partners and holding on to its brand cachet before a newcomer (Google?) comes along and unseats a pioneer," writes ZDNet's Sam Diaz.
