Skype to sell pre paid calling cards through Wal-Mart

skype and walmart.jpg

Wal-Mart which is the world's largest retailer has entered into a deal with Skype under which it would be offering Skype certified products at its eighteen hundred stores. It will include Skype certified web cams, handsets, headsets and pre-paid cards for Skype VoIP calls. The card will retail for $8.85 with Skype credit worth $20 and a three month subscription to Unlimited Calling plan. Now Skype products are within easy reach of consumers and one can get web cams, headsets and handsets for under $25, $15 and $30.

This is expected to give a solid push to Skype since Wal-Mart is the biggest retail store and here Skype will get more visibility and sales too. A good marketing strategy from Skype and its pre paid cards should definitely sell like hot cakes!!
