This is something which is certainly going to affect the usage of Skype which is one of the most popular VoIP services and is now facing a worm attack via Skype Chat. Users are bamboozled to download and run a sp.exe file and if the file gets executed the spyware gets installed on the computer and it could be used for stealing your personal information. In case a user unknowingly runs the Trojan, a connection is established with the remote server which infects the computer with other set of code. The birth of this worm is being attributed to South Korea in Asia.

W32.Chatosky is the name of the worm and it is being said that the worm is using the NTKrnl Secure Suite packer and this is an encryption program which makes the packaged files looks exclusive to detection engines therefore it might become difficult for a number of anti virus companies to flag and catch it.

I was just wondering is this just the start of attack on VoIP services? Up till now we were fighting phishing and now will we see viruses and worms in our VoIP world too. More report is expected on this issue. Don't worry as I will keep you posted on that but till then try avoiding using Skype Chat.
