Skype can breathe some sigh of relief as an antitrust lawsuit filed against it by StreamCast Networks for $4.1-billion has ended for now. The lawsuit was thrown out by a federal judge. This was one of the high profile cases where Skype was sued by Streamcast and it laid the claim on FastTrack technology which evolved into Skype. In the entire blame game Skype was accused of corrupt business practices.
The court rejected the case on the plea that it was not presented in a proper manner. Streamcast remains unfettered and it plans to pursue other matters but this first round victory will certainly act as a moral booster for Skype.
Andy states that the game has still not ended and I certainly agree with him because in no way these are simple charges and Streamcast would again try and prove its point sooner or later and if Streamcast wins this battle then Skype will have a tough time ahead for sure.
