Finally the date has arrived for the VoIP providers to comply with the USF regulations and it is not far off, just one week from now i.e. August 1. What has also arrived with the deadline are certain issues which would have to solved before compliance with the FCC regulations are undertaken.
Some of the issues which would have to be dealt are to differentiate between interstate and international revenues and then there is the consideration to disable VoIP capabilities in case the user is not utilizing them. The second issue which is required to be dealt with is that FCC considers a VoIP service facility which is capable of making or receiving two way calls over a telephone network to be interconnected even if the customer uses the service or not and a distinction would also be required to be made between telecommunications and information services.
Lastly a user must get ready to shell out more as this burden is expected to be passed on by the VoIP providers to them.
