The Puzzle Game - Who Owns iPhone?
Filed in archive Companies by gautam on January 29, 2007

is generating interest as more and more companies have started to lay their claim on this 'esteemed' iPhone trademark. It started with iPhone trademark being associated with Apple then Cisco claimed that it owned the trademark iPhone and it also sued Apple for this. We thought that this was the end of the story but we were wrong as the game has just begun and not ended. A Canadian telecommunications company named Comwave Telecom has sent a warning letter to Cisco claiming that it is stepping on the use of iPhone brand. Cisco claims that it has obtained the rights to the iPhone trademark since the year 2000 and now Comcave has come into the picture and claimed that it has been using the iPhone trademark since 2004.
Yuval Barzakay, President, Comwave stated:
Our legal department has put Cisco on notice. We will see how they react and then gauge our next action. This game has even beaten the regular jigsaw puzzle and I am wondering whether there are still more suitors for iPhone. In this whole process the phones have taken a backseat and the trademark is grabbing all the attention. If this puzzle is not solved soon it will surely hurt the phones launched by Cisco and Apple and in the process a number of companies will grab undue attention.
