Trixbox Goes 2.0, Gets More Hands Off!

trixbox.gif

Trixbox has evolved quite a bit from it's formerly Asterisk@Home, open-source roots. While it's still the open-source PBX Asterisk at it's core, there are two editions: a community-supported version, and a pro version that is a hybrid-hosted model.

What does hybrid hosted mean? It means you still have a PBX at your premises, but the Trixbox Pro PBX is proactively monitored, backed up, updated with the latest software, and much, much, more.

Trixbox Pro has officially gone 2.0 now, which provides a whole mess of new features. One such feature is the ability to automatically configure Aastra and polycom phones without having to actually touch the handsets. They are recognized and reconfigured automatically. This is one of those things, based on past experience, I'll have to see to believe.
