Vishing Follows Phishing

Till now you all must be familiar with phishing attacks which target banks and e-commerce companies but here is a slight twist to it. Online fraudsters have found a new way of tricking computer users to hand over their secure banking details. This time instead of asking users to verify their details by clicking on emails, the message has a phone number which looks real. Now this is where the game begins. This particular email would require you to verify your account details by calling the number due to suspected fraudulent activity.

People calling this number would be instructed by an automated recording to punch their sixteen digit credit card number and by using reverse phone number look up, the fraudster would then be able to link name and address details to the account number and then would be able to gather other details such as card expiry date, PINs and date of birth. We are already aware that it is a common practice that whenever you call your credit card provider you have to enter your credit card number before you could speak to a credit card representative.

Since it is cost effective and easy to exploit technology therefore it seems to be a soft target for scammers, so I would like to warn my readers that in case they get something suspecting think logical before proceeding.
