A serious security flaw has been reported in Skype's software for Apple's Mac OS X. In order to tackle this Skype has issued an update to fix it. As per a Skype advisory, vulnerability exists in the way Skype for Mac handles web links. It further states that an attacker can construct a malformed Skype link which when clicked on could cause the application to crack or system may be compromised.
There could be an instance where a miscreant might publish a malformed Skype link on a website and trick somebody into following it. Vulnerability has been found in Skype for Mac releases and includes 1.5.*.79. As of now the flaw has been fixed in release 1.5.*.80 or later.
