Vonage faces closure at the hands of Verizon

. It is on this day that Vonage and Verizon would be presenting their opening statements in a patent infringement case which could affect the VoIP industry as a whole. Vonage admitted last week that it does not have any answer regarding the claim of Verizon regarding patent infringement and in case Verizon gets an upper hand in court Vonage might have to be closed temporarily if not permanent so that it will be able to redesign its services. As a result its customers would be certainly affected. On the other hand Vonage spokesperson, Brooke Schulz said that all claims of Verizon were baseless and their company had not infringed any of the patents. On chances of shutting down of the company she said that they were working on a redesign plan. It was in June when Verizon had sued Vonage for patent violation. Verizon in an amended compliant in January stated that Vonage had been working on the researches conducted by them. If Verizon wins then Vonage would have to pay unspecified monetary compensation and stop using Verizon's technology.
Let's wait till Wednesday for the court's verdict!!
