Vonage Introduces V-Phone USB Key Ring Phone

Vonage has come up with a USB key ring phone which enables one to make calls from any PC and a high speed internet connection. Referred to as the V-Phone, it is preloaded with Vonage Talk software so that what all a user is required to do is to insert the Vonage V-phone into any available USB port and plug the earpiece into the side of the Vonage V-Phone.

It works with a 256MB U3 drive and users can remove the drive when one is done and the phone and all the important call information goes along with the person. The phone has a 250 MB of memory which can be used for storing important data and costs $39.99 in the U.S. As of now the phone is not compatible with Apple, Macintosh or Linux Systems.

I was wondering why one should pay forty bucks for it when one could download the softphone client instead.

People will pay for this so they don’t have to key any information into public terminals. As well, most internet cafes won’t let you install any software on their machines. It’s basically a USB soundcard with some flash and the vonage softphone pre-installed.
I’d like to get one of these and terminate it to my own asterisk server. Now that would be cool.

I’d like to get one of this, surely it’ll work with my 256MB U3 drive.
