Check out the new VoX for Skype service from VoxLib!! Up till now you were dependant on PCs for making VoIP calls but with this new service you would be able to make and receive Skype calls with your cell phone at the price of local minutes on your wireless plan. Just download an online plug-in to your computer from their website. You are not required to install apps on your handset and there is also no requirement for mobile data service plan. This has been made possible by a bridging algorithm which has been developed by the engineers at VoxLib and it connects any communication device to any network whether it is PSTN or systems making use of IAX, SIP or other protocols.
The only thing is that you are required to be logged on to your Skype account while making calls. This is quite a simple service and it works like this- you make a local call from your cell phone to VoxLib which in turn recognizes you and then seamlessly links you to Skype on your PC. By making use of a voice prompted menu you can check who among your friends is online and make calls to them. Besides this you can also listen and manage your Skype voicemail, get notification through SMS for missed calls or voicemails and text message to Skype contacts.
It's available for free but just for a limited period of time so go ahead and enjoy it.
