Voxeo Corporation has raised $9 million in funding from North Atlantic Capital and the Florida Growth Fund.
"The Orlando, Fla.-based company is focused on making open platforms based on what it calls ‘unlocked communications,’ such as voice-over-Internet-protocol on mobile platforms or unified messaging and voice communications," writes VentureBeat’s Dean Takahashi. "It essentially helps companies run their phone systems using modern web-based technologies."
"The startup has made numerous acquisitions over the past year, buying Motorola’s VoiceXML browser business, IM platform developer IMified, application server VoiceObjects, and VoIP platform Micromethod," notes TechCrunch’s Leena Rao. "Voxeo says that the new funds will be used to make additional acquisitions ad well as further internal development of technologies."
