Gizmo5, the program formerly known as Gizmo Project, is now launched on Windows and Nokia Internet Tablets running OS2008. The Mac and linux versions are still sporting the previous version along with the former name. You can also get a client for your mobile phone as well.
The new feature in this release? Video support, and a brand new user interface. I haven't given this the college try yet, since it's not yet available on the Mac. I did try the video on the Nokia N800 a while back and it wasn't any better than, say, GTalk from the N800. I'll have to try video on the PC and see how well it works.

i have to say i am a bit skeptical of upgrading. while i respect much of what gizmo has been doing. i detest the degree to which the gizmo client tend to ‘hijack’ my computer. i have a modified icon on one of my misc. folders that was deformed during my last gizmo installation. i also absolutely hate programs to start themselves whenever i restart my computer. gizmo has never given any options during installation. they automatically without asking put icon on your desktop and rewrite the registry so that it automatically starts every time. it is just all a major turn off for me even if i think it is otherwise a great VOIP client. i am sticking to gizmocall and sipphone accounts on x-lite in order to take advantage of ‘back door dialing’ and other innovative features.
I think I’ve seen the issues you raise, @spg. Mostly I use Gizmo on the Mac, where I don’t have those issues.
I installed Gizmo5 a few days ago. Now am getting angry comments from friends about the spam coming to their phones and IM’s. I am still trying to remove my contacts with no luck. I only wanted to use Gizmo with GrandCentral for the sip plugin. The program also instals “Ask.com” tool bar by default.
