Now the folks at GotVoice have added the ability to transcribe voicemail messages into SMS. The caller leaves a message as usual. When GotVoice retrieves the voicemail, it is interpreted into text words and sent to you as an SMS. I have no idea how well this works, but it sounds like a nifty idea!

GrandCentral does something similar, though I think it's by group. You can't go quite the per-caller route.
