Introducing Nimbuzz for Android

Nimbuzz recently launched Nimbuzz for Android, a new app designed (logically enough) for Android devices.

"Nimbuzz's claim to fame is that it interconnects a wide variety of other discrete, non-interoperable IM/VoIP services – as well as providing VoIP services of its own over a variety of connection types," explains Enterprise VoIP Planet's Ted Stevenson. "This lets users chat with and talk to friends on Skype, Google Talk, MSN/Windows Live Messenger, Facebook, MySpace, and other communities from a single interface and using a variety of devices – and without having to independently register for those services."

"Unique-to-Android features include a new buddy list layout, Skype instant messaging, a time sensitive user interface, homescreen notifications, auto-reconnect, clickable URLs, and local social-network support," writes VoIP News' David Masters. "The time sensitive user interface detects how long a user presses on a buddy in their contact list. A fast-click opens the contacts profile, a longer-click opens an instant messaging window. Auto-reconnect guarantees seamless connectivity whenever a connection is lost, while clickable URLs make for a fully multi-media chat experience."
