This week, I'm up in Ottawa for my day job. This presented me with the opportunity to have lunch with Alec Saunders of iotum. Alec is well-known in the VoIP blogosphere with his Saunderslog blog.
The conversation? Hardly about tech. It was about travel. All the cool places him and his family traveled. I have a hard enough time traveling with my two kids. I can't imagine traveling with five like Alec has :)
One statement Alec made relevant to readers of this blog was about VoIP in general. VoIP itself isn't getting a lot of press anymore. Applications enabled by VoIP are.
Certainly true. Applications like iotum's Relevance Engine and their Talk-Now application for the Blackberry are enabled by VoIP. iotum's recent Facebook Conferencing application, however, doesn't use much VoIP at all.
I personally don't care if VoIP is involved. If it works, it's reliable, and useful, I'm all for it. What do you think?
