A recent online poll which received votes from more than five hundred broadband users rated Skype as the most popular VoIP program among all. Skype got the top position with 52% votes followed by MSN which garnered 29% of the votes and Google Talk stood at third position by getting eleven percent of the votes.
On the other hand Yahoo messenger could only get eight percent of the votes which shows how popular these three programs are in the South African market. Its popularity can be figured out by the fact that it offers low cost PC to phone calls to Australia, New Zealand and UK. The poll appeared on the front page of the website of MyADSL/MyBroadband.
I am not surprised that Skype has achieved the honors as it is not only the frontrunner in offering low cost calls but also doling out free calls at regular intervals.
