TalQer Out Of Beta with Plug-In For Skype Too

Phil Wolff reports that version 1.0.0.1 of TalQer is out of beta but it has some revelations. A plug-in for GoogleTalk and now for Skype even, it enables you to dial out on TalQer's network using your existing address book. There is a big yellow dial button in the Skype UI and that is of TalQer so you can easily bypass SkypeOut if you want to.

The call rates are also affordable as in some cases it is 1.5¢ per minute whereas in other cases the rates are at par with Skype charges of two cents per minute. With TalQer based in California you won't be subjected to EU value added taxes. It is being labeled as a minute stealer, you must be wondering what minute stealer implies. No need to scratch your heads as the answer is quite simple. It is a sly marketing strategy used by companies to attract users to shift to their low cost service. Here TalQer is a minute-stealer relative to Skype.

The company is also making an effort to improve the voice quality by signing up with services which move bits over leased and don't attract any overhead expenses. TalQer is available in 38 countries, 24 more than SkypeIn. Though the first TalqIn number is free but subsequent numbers are available for $3.00 a month which is at par with SkypeIn. The issue of voice quality will allways be an issue for skype. It uses h323 instead of sip.
