Recently I told you that Vodafone UK and Orange had disabled VoIP on Nokia N 95 and after this news spread like fire Vodafone admitted that it had removed the software from the phone and gave the following reasons for its action:
VoIP is not a reliable service
Regular data transfer problems associated with VoIP
For maintenance of quality of service from its network
The company needs to conduct in depth testing, billing integration and customer service support which is not available as of now.
VoIP is not free on cell phones as internet connectivity is required which is chargeable.
These reasons simply can't get down my throat and it seems the company is not brave enough to admit that VoIP could eat into their revenues and therefore they were not willing to allow VoIP on N 95.

Its laughable. They are prepared to offer an internet connection service but not allow customers to decide how they want to use the service. Most people know that using voip this way will not be reliable etc. Users of the internet connection don’t go back to Vodafone if google’s website starts playing up … its nothing to do with VF how or what data is transmitted, as long as its legal. Users pay for connection rate/packets/whatever. Not content type or usage application.
This would be exactly like BT or Verizon stopping people using Skype or Gizmo on the BB connection. Needs a class action to sort them out
No doubt VF will allow voip once they have figured out how to force users to use THEIR voip, and no other.
My son lives in Japan Skype is the only way to speak at affordable prices. Good luck to the 3 network. They support it. BT aka O2 have always grossly over charged for calls to Japan, I have crossed them off my list for ever, long live Skype..
