Popular handsets have always caught the attention of copycats who end up creating an imitation of it and sell it below the cost of the original and at the end of the day eat into their brand name and profits. Until these handsets are figured out and legal notices are slapped on the companies' considerable damage has already been done. If you consider the pic on the left to be of Nokia N800 tablet then you have been foxed as it is a handheld GPS manufactured by XIACHAO which is a Chinese company. In terms of features it is very much similar to Nokia N800 and the only difference which I could figure out between the two is that GPS UMPC001 (this is what the Chinese clone is called) and Nokia N800 is that the former runs Windows CE whereas the latter runs Linux.

It has a 4.3 inch touch screen coupled with support for MSN, Skype and Wi-Fi. It can recognize handwriting and one can even undertake video chat with the webcam mounted above the screen. On the entertainment front there is a copy of Nintendo game coupled with a media player for serving your audio and video requirements whereas on the business front there is a document viewer which can meet your Word, Excel, PDF, TXT, PPT and XLS format requirements. I hope that it has not caught the attention of Nokia guys who would be very much interested in slapping a lawsuit on these people.

Nokia N800 is the successor to Nokia 770 which did well in the market. I really liked the browser and the design too is travel friendly. You can use it for reading news while sipping coffee at a local coffee shop. The manufacturers have put in some nice upgrades on to the device like built in Webcam, better performance and the design too has been made sleeker has compared to its predecessor. But I still don’t think that this device will appeal to a lot of people; for many, the N800 would be too geeky and you need to have Wi-Fi all the time.
